The major update in this release is the Linux Kernel 5.17.1, which is the first point release consisting of initial bug fixes. The Linux Kernel 5.17 brings the latest hardware updates across processors, graphics cards, storage systems and ports.

This release also installs the latest version of the archinstall utility, which is a command-line automated script to install Arch Linux. New users can easily install Arch Linux using this utility.

Arch Linux 2022.04.01 features the latest version, archinstall 2.3.3, that brings bug fixes catering to the encrypted btrfs file system and systemd-boot and some fixes on the –help option of this utility. The archinstall moves closer to a perfect automated system to install Arch Linux with this update. Because, in general, there is a myth that the Arch Linux installation process is complex and not suitable for new users. Well, that’s not anymore.

If you are already running Arch Linux as vanilla or via any Linux Distributions such as Manjaro or Endeavour OS, you do not require to download the latest ISO. You need to open your favourite terminal emulator and run the below command to update.

As always, be a little cautious with Arch updates which include a fresh Kernel release. It may not be applicable for you, but with my experience, I had issues sometimes that included display going haywire with Arch updates. If you have Nvidia or some specialized hardware, things may sometimes become tricky.

If you want to do a fresh installation, grab the ISO from the below link or visit the official download page for local mirrors. You can use any virtual machine or use any USB writer tool like Etcher to get it installed in a physical system.
